Especially with the threat of terrorism hitting very close to home, it’s become imperative that we secure our homes and places of work and education.

Definition of the system

Digital video recorder security system comprises of the Digital video recorder (DVR) and camera installations plus the software required to run the system. All the proceedings are directly recorded to a hard disk rather than a tape. Motion detection software is built in the software. People can also access the proceedings via remote access through the internet.  The events can be played back very quickly and the DVR is based on the number of camera installations.

Old VCRs took up a lot of space as the tapes took a great amount of space. Also they couldn’t be played back really fast and tapes had to be hunted from the storage department. With the new DVR Security Camera Systems and the camera installation, recording is simple, storage is no problem and retrieval is quick. The night owl security system is a good security system for the amateur or professional and has the option of allowing you to see what is going on at all times over the internet or your smart phone. Details about Night Owl Security System:

You would expect that for the price of the Night Owl security system that you would get a low quality system that is hard to set up and doesn’t offer you so many features. This is not the case though and not only is the Night Owl security system easy to set up and use, but you get 8 night vision cameras to place around your property with 60 feet of cable per camera to connect them to the included DVR with 500 gigabytes of storage space.

With 500 gigs you can record up to a year’s worth of footage thanks to the H.264 compression technology that lets you record more video on less hard drive space.

You can easily connect this security system to a home TV or computer monitor and then connect it to your computer network so that you can view all 8 cameras online from anywhere in the world. You can also use your smart phone like an Iphone or Android to view your cameras in real time over Wi-Fi or 3G so that you know what is going on at all times.

If you do use an Android phone you can download a free app for it to make monitoring your system even easier. This is a really handy feature to have and many people who use this system like to be able to check on their place when they are not there and make sure nothing is going on.

Night Owl security system is easy to use as mentioned above and offers a point and click interface similar to a home computer, which helps you find what you need quickly. You then just use the included mouse or remote control to access what you want by selecting an icon like you would on a PC.

The ease of use means that anyone who knows how to use a computer can easily use this system without much difficulty. If you are not comfortable with networking and running wires you may want to get someone else to set it up, but you can easily monitor it by yourself.

The best part about the Night Owl security system is that you do not have to pay a monthly fee to use it like you would with other security services. This will save you or your business money although you will have to monitor your cameras yourself or hire someone to do it, but even that is not too much of a hassle.

Since the Night Owl uses motion activated cameras, you will easily be able to find anything suspicious in your recordings without taking too much time to do it. Using motion sensitive security cameras not only saves time, but it also saves hard drive space because you are not recording all the time and thanks to the advance motion detectors, you can block areas where there are trees or other moving objects to help prevent false alarms.

The cameras also have inferred night vision which lets you see in the dark up to about 30 feet from where your cameras are mounted. This is helpful since most thieves use the darkness as cover and will not suspect they are being recorded.

What’s good about being able to record them whether it is light or dark out is that you will have good evidence to use to be able to catch anyone who breaks in and actually does get away with some of your stuff. While you can’t always count on catching someone like that, you will be in a better position to if you have a security setup and a recording of the suspect on file.

While no security system is perfect, the guys at Night Owl really did a good job with the Night Owl security system. They made it easy to use while providing high quality components so that you can monitor your property or business even when you are not there.

The price is reasonable to considering what you are getting and the fact that you do not have to pay a monthly fee to use the system. Many users like the way the Night Owl security system is easy to use and provides high quality video playback while not using much hard drive space. All in all if you are looking for a good security system that has all the features listed above, you can’t go wrong with this one.
